ABOUT US
Our History:
Peterson Elevator Company, Inc. is a significant presence in the elevator industry in the greater Los Angeles area, offering manufacturing, installation, modernization, servicing, and repair of passenger elevators. For over seventy-five years, our family has worked in the elevator industry, spanning four generations. Dating back to 1947, Mell Roy Peterson relocated to California and worked for Elevator Maintenance Company. Following in his father’s footsteps, Van Peterson joined Houghton Elevator in the late 1950s.
In 1964, Van, now an electrical engineer, embarked on a new venture by establishing Delta Elevator. Mell joined him, bringing his extensive experience to the company. A year later, Dennis Peterson, Van’s brother, joined the team, contributing his mechanical engineering degree, and his calculations continue to play a vital role in the elevators we construct today.
The legacy continued with Van’s son, Brian, who joined his father’s efforts in 1976 at the age of 14. Brian pursued education in Construction Management and became a certified elevator mechanic through the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 18. Over the next fifteen years, he played a key role in installing the elevators crafted by his father.
In 2002, Brian and his brother assumed control of the company, with Brian as president, overseeing its operations until 2022. Recognizing the ongoing success of the family’s legacy in the elevator industry, the strategic decision was made to diversify into two independent companies. Drawing upon the rich family history within the elevator business, Brian and his sons chose to proudly associate the family name with their product, giving rise to Peterson Elevator Company, Inc.
Under the leadership of Brian Peterson, who brings 45 years of experience, and with his sons, Danny and Greg, each contributing over a decade of expertise, the family upholds its tradition of manufacturing, installing, maintaining, and repairing passenger elevators—a specialized skill passed down through generations. The family’s impressive history encompasses the production of over 3500 elevators in the Los Angeles area.
Peterson Elevator Company remains dedicated to delivering the same exceptional products and services that have characterized four generations of Petersons. We take immense pride in our longstanding history in the industry. Our family has been committed to “Giving you a lift since 1947!”
