Our Legacy in Elevator Manufacturing and Service

Peterson Elevator Company, Inc. is a family-owned elevator manufacturer and service provider built on four generations of hands-on experience. Our family’s involvement in the elevator industry began in 1947 with Mell Roy Peterson, whose dedication and technical skill laid the foundation for a legacy of high-quality elevator craftsmanship. His sons, Van and Dennis, continued that legacy as electrical and mechanical engineers, contributing designs and calculations that still influence modern elevator systems.

The next generation advanced the tradition when Van’s son, Brian, entered the elevator trade in 1976 at just 14 years old. After earning his Construction Management education and becoming a certified elevator mechanic through IUEC Local 18, Brian spent decades installing, and maintaining passenger elevators throughout the greater Los Angeles area. He later served as president of his father’s company for 20 years, strengthening the family’s reputation for reliable elevator manufacturing and exceptional service.

With more than 3,700 elevators produced across four generations, Peterson Elevator Company continues to uphold a legacy of reliability, safety, and precision—providing trusted elevator solutions to building owners, contractors, and communities throughout Southern California.

Meet our Office Staff

Jessica manages our front office, billing, phones, administration and many other tasks. She is the person you will speak to first when you call our office. Eric will answer your questions about modernization, service, maintenance contracts, and repairs and you may even see him at your building servicing your elevator. Brian is in charge of new construction, bids, and scheduling and is the person to talk to if you are a contractor who needs an elevator or wheelchair lift installed in your commercial building.

Meet our Builders

We manufacture our own elevators in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Each of our staff have unique skills they apply to building our elevators. Together, they produce the cab that will be installed in your building.

Meet our Installers

Our construction mechanics have had extensive training in the installation of elevator cabs and each of them belongs to the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 18 as either Mechanics or Mechanic’s helpers. These are the men you will see on your job site during the installation process.

Meet Our Service Mechanics

Our service mechanics come to your building monthly after the elevator has been installed to keep it running smoothly. They are also all members of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 18 and have had many years of experience and training. These are the men who make repairs, and maintain your elevator after it has been installed.
